There was a fine dusting of snow at the start of the month, which coupled with the occasional sunny day made for good days out on the hill. Here are two photos from from Mick.

This one is of Dodd (the Lorton one) seen on the ascent of the north ridge of Whiteside from Hopebeck. A fine little Birkett top.

And this is the summit ridge of Whiteside looking east towards Hopegill Head.

More snow fell in the month and Hugh & Norman had a walk up Rossett Pike to collect two Birketts.

Here is the superb Bowfell Buttress looking nearly as blade-like as the Inn Pin.

On the same day, Mick had a trip up the north ridge of Skiddaw from Mellbecks. Wainwright says - 'Of all ways up Skiddaw this is the least interesting'. He included the Birkett top of Cockup on the way.

This photo is of the the fence running from Bakestall to Broad End. Andy Goldsworthy eat your heart out!

Mid-week Walk - Latterbarrow from Far Sawrey
Tony & Sue, Graham & Irene, Colin & Val, Roger, Mick, Frank, David, Hugh, Norman, and Daniel.
The cold spell at the end of February produced some lovely clear days, and this day was no exception. Starting from Far Sawrey, the thirteen members and guests had their first stop at the lovely Moss Eccles Tarn before walking on for coffee at Wise Een Tarn. Lunch was taken on Latterbarrow with a superb view all round. The return was via High Wray and the shores of Windermere. Refreshment in the Sawrey Hotel (now renamed the Cuckoo Brow Inn) rounded off an excellent day: thanks to Sue & Tony.

Here they are at the start of the walk, from left to right: David, Norman, Roger, Colin, Irene, Val, Graham, Hugh, Tony, Daniel, Sue, Frank, with Mick taking the photo

A great view over to Pike O'Stickle, Harrison Stickle, and Pavey Ark.
A complicated gate locking system near High Wray. All the people with access to the land have their own key and lock, but any one key holder can open the gate - very clever. Not that it stopped us as it wasn't actually locked when we passed through it!

By the end of the month most of the snow had gone with only vestigies remaining on the northern and eastern slopes. These two are of Mardale
